Police Man Shooting a Bad Guy

I walked downstairs today, and found this in Calvin's sketch pad. It isn't his most careful drawing, but the details kill me. Like the x's for dead eyes, and the mean policeman face. He also loves writing words, even if they don't really make words, but apparently kept making the same nonsense word on this one.

The "Red" Hulk

Calvin was very specific to let me know that this is the "red" Hulk. It's so cute though, he was copying his figurine and tries to include very specific details, yet coloring it red doesn't seem to dawn on him yet.

Happy Meal Toy Still Life

Calvin's latest creation is this Happy Meal Toy Still Life. I don't know who this guy is, but its so cute. I love the details he captures, the green irises, the red bandanna, the belt and the little T thing on his head.

The Scooby Doo Crew

Calvin has a new passion, not that he has forgotten Batman, he has just added to his love with Scooby Doo. I found Calvin quietly drawing this today, and then proceeds to tell me exactly who everyone is. I love how observant he is, in that even his simple drawings he tries to add details that he notices, like Velma's glasses. He also told me that "Reddie" has blue pants on and a white shirt. Hopefully one of these days he'll start to color in things, instead of imagining them.

Today he also drew both a "red" hulk and a "grey" hulk, which were both black and white line drawings. "Mom, tan you get me my wed (red) hulk?"  "Uh, sure, now which of the 12 black and white hulk drawings would that be?"

Calvin's Dream

So Calvin woke up from his nap yesterday and he says, "Mom! Der was a baltango (volcano) and da diehores (dinosaurs), and da baltango wupted and der was wava (lava) and it was willy hot, and you and me climb willy high and we didn't die!"

So then I asked him to draw his dream, so that we could remember it. And this is what he came up with. By the way those are a bunch of letters on the side, he thinks he is spelling his name.  We are still working on it :)

Drawings on the wall...

The latest and greatest drawings from Calvin...on my wall of course. Calvin hasn't been wanting to draw lately and it has made me rather sad, so when he surprised me with these lovely's, I had a hard time getting mad at the fact that they were on my wall...in permanent marker nonetheless. The sneaky kid did these without me even noticing, and informs me after his nap of their whereabouts. Pointing down the stairs saying, "Mom, der's an ohsan and da whale, a mama whale, and da baby whale. I draw, whid da marker. Da marker's naughty. I put it away." At least he is well aware of the fact that he's not suppose to use permanent markers, too bad it doesn't stop him.

By the way, lately he's been into fixing his own hair...oh and working hard on his fake smile.

Dinosaurs

Every since we let Calvin watch Jurassic Park on our trip home from Utah, he's been obsessed with dinosaurs. He drew this little guy today. I love it!

The Spider and the Guitar

Ok, I'm a mother obsessed, but bear with me since this is also my journal. He drew this and excitedly taps my shoulder and says pointing "Spider! Guitar!" I love love love it. The guitar is upside down, but you can see it!

Grandma and other drawings...

The other day we were at my mom's and Calvin was drawing, so I just asked him to draw a picture of Grandma and this is what he drew. I was floored! Who cares if she has three legs? I would say it's his first official full person too. He has done a few heads with eyes and mouths before. It's so cute cause he will totally tell you what is drawing as he draws it..."eyes, nose, mouth, ears, legs, feet..."

He continues to surprise me just because he totally draws with an intention of drawing something in particular. He'll say "soccer ball" and proceeds to draw a circle with some little circles in it and "football" and sure enough draws something that resembles a football. Lately, he has been really into the Nightmare before Christmas and he was sitting down drawing and drew this and said "Scary Pumpkin!" Although, I have learned I have to quickly pull the drawing away, or else he'll continue to draw more drawings on top of each other...we've lost some cute things this way.

My Little Picasso

Here is Calvin's latest giraffe, not that I ever put up his first ones... Anyhow, his first ones just started out with a circle head a long line for a neck and a circle body. He has now evolved, and added the feet, hair and eyes. I couldn't be more proud! Pretty good for just turning 2. I'm so glad he loves to draw. At least he got something from me!
