The other day we were at my mom's and Calvin was drawing, so I just asked him to draw a picture of Grandma and this is what he drew. I was floored! Who cares if she has three legs? I would say it's his first official full person too. He has done a few heads with eyes and mouths before. It's so cute cause he will totally tell you what is drawing as he draws it..."eyes, nose, mouth, ears, legs, feet..."
He continues to surprise me just because he totally draws with an intention of drawing something in particular. He'll say "soccer ball" and proceeds to draw a circle with some little circles in it and "football" and sure enough draws something that resembles a football. Lately, he has been really into the Nightmare before Christmas and he was sitting down drawing and drew this and said "Scary Pumpkin!" Although, I have learned I have to quickly pull the drawing away, or else he'll continue to draw more drawings on top of each other...we've lost some cute things this way.

Ok, are you sure you are not just drawing those and saying those are Calvin's? I have never seen a kid that young draw like that..amazing.
Ok, it is official... Calvin is already a better artist than me. Can I send my girls to summer art camp with their aunts?
I promise I don't help him at all. For a while he would just scribble and want me to draw stuff for him. He loved that. Then we would draw stuff together with me holding his hand. Then one day he figured out how to draw circles all by himself and was very proud of himself, and slowly it has evolved...I'll put up some of my drawings at his age. I think there is some degree of inherited talent though because having taught art to kids I know it's unusual. Also maybe because of my love of art and encouraging him? Or him seeing me draw all the time?

Ok, I keep thinking one of these days Ruby will start drawing like I did as a child, I even got her one of those tables with paper roll that goes over it for her 2nd birthday....nope, not even close. Calvin has definitly inherited his Momma's talent...these are incredible!! And so are your most recent pics! Go get that lens already will ya!
