One of those Days....

So today was just one of those days, where Calvin gets to run the house, and I've given up caring. Today was his first official day at Nursery, (I'm not counting two weeks ago, when Will dropped him off unbeknownst to me while I was teaching YW, making me miss this milestone, besides the fact that he wasn't officially old enough). Anyhow, I was very excited for him to go to all of Nursery, and I tried to get him to nap earlier, but he wasn't having anything to do with that. So we went without, and he did pretty good up until the last 15 minutes of church. But now we are paying the price of the lack of nap...

If bi-polar could describe the moods of a day as well as describing the mood swings of a manic, then consider the day and myself in need of a serious lithium fix. Since we got home from church, Calvin has alternated between moods of delirium and inconsolable unhappiness. I tried to give him another nap, but he refused to go down (delirium state), then it just gets to the point that it gets too late for him to nap because it will interrupt his bed time. So now, every toy is strewn across the floor, not because he played with every toy, but because I would try to get out something new to console him and instead he would just chuck it across the room. All the chocolate chip cookies I baked yesterday, are now stuffed into our toaster, each and every single one with a nibble or two in them. Everything else I tried to feed him got chucked across the room. He dumped his juice down the front of himself, only because he refused to let me help him. This, however, did buy a few laughs even though I was completely exasperated with him. He has tried to nurse only about 12 times in the last hour. (Yes, Calvin still nurses and although I would like to wean him, he does not know how to go to sleep without a boob in his mouth and he tends to gnaw on me as the human pacifier when he is looking for comfort.)

So now after spending hours with my little bipolar maniac (who, I may add as he gets more tired, also tends to start hitting and biting those he loves best,) I sit here as Calvin has completely pulled out an entire roll of dental floss and is busily licking every square inch of it. But he is finally happy, therefore so am I, and I feel like Goldie Hawn on the movie Overboard, where she is sitting in an almost comatose state as the kids are throwing grapes at her trying to feed her. Good thing he is so stinkin' cute and that I love him unconditionally...

By the way, I should mention Will wasn't home to help at all tonight, since he was helping his best friend move for the 3rd time this year.

Oh Rani! So much fun, I know that scene well! Ruby and Calvin would be a dangerous duo. I nursed Ruby until she was 18 months for the same reason...the only thing that made me stop was getting pregnant and I took a trip for 3 days without her, she was totally fine...and I was so worried about it!

I know what you mean about missed naps- they go so crazy when they don't have them. Last weekend we went up to founders day and then the USU homecoming game so Avva didn't get her nap. She was such a pill during the game we had to leave early and come home skipping dinner out because she was such a beast. I can't waite to see you next week!

Wow Rani, I think every mom of a toddler has been there. I know I have (more than I care to mention). Funny you mentioned the "Overboard" clip, I was thinking of that same clip today, "bah bah bah ba bah bah ba bah". Hilarous. Oh and I nursed Maddie 'til she was 23 months, no biggie. :)
